Boutique gyms, yoga studios and pilates classes compete on atmosphere as much as equipment. Members can get a treadmill anywhere. What they can't get anywhere is a room that feels good to be in - and that they want to post about.
A flower or foliage wall is one of the cheapest ways to give a studio a look of its own.
Why studios in particular
Fitness is one of the most photographed categories on social media. Members post before-and-afters, class check-ins, and progress videos, and all of it happens inside your four walls. Every one of those posts is either showing off your studio or showing a blank magnolia wall behind them.
A feature wall means your space is identifiable in a member's photo without you doing anything at all.
Where to put it
- Reception or check-in. The first thing members see and the natural spot for a photo on the way in or out.
- The mirror wall's opposite. In a mirrored studio, whatever is behind the members appears in every mirror shot and every class photo.
- The stretch or cool-down corner. A calmer space where foliage does more work than in the main floor area.
- The corridor to the changing rooms. Usually the dullest part of any gym and the cheapest to transform.
Greenery usually beats florals here
For yoga and pilates especially, foliage reads as calm and natural where a bright floral can feel busy. Green Tropical gives a dense, jungle-like wall that suits a studio far better than a wedding-style backdrop.
If you want colour without losing the calm, Purple Tropical or Ivory Foliage keep the greenery base and add a lift. For a high-energy spin or HIIT studio, the logic reverses - stronger colour holds up better under the low, dramatic lighting those rooms tend to use.
Practical points for a fitness space
- Keep it out of the equipment zone. Away from swinging kettlebells, dropped weights and rig space.
- Mind the humidity. Artificial panels handle a warm room fine, but don't put one in a steam room or directly against a wet wall.
- Real plants won't work. Most studios have no natural light and nobody to water anything. That's exactly the problem an artificial wall solves - no light, no watering, no dead plants by March.
- Give it standing room. Around two metres so members can take a full-length photo.
- Put your studio name beside it in vinyl or neon, so member photos carry your brand.
Sizing and cost
Our walls are built from individual 60cm x 40cm panels, so a small reception feature might be six or eight panels while a full studio wall runs to 24 or more. Use the panel calculator for your measurements.
If you're in a leased unit and can't drill, a wall with a telescopic stand gives the same effect and comes with you when the lease ends.
