How to Set Up a Flower Wall: Step-by-Step Guide

Posted by Starlight Flower Walls on

Flower walls have become one of the most popular backdrops for weddings, events, beauty salons and social media content. Whether you've just purchased your first set of panels or you're looking to create a more professional installation, this guide walks you through everything you need to know.

What You'll Need

Before you start, gather the following:

  • Your flower wall panels (each panel measures 60cm x 40cm)
  • A telescopic stand (if using our flower wall with stand package) or wall fixings
  • A flat, clear wall surface or backdrop frame
  • A helper for larger installations

Step 1: Plan Your Layout

Decide on the size of your flower wall before you begin. A standard 8ft x 8ft display requires 24 panels. Measure your space carefully and use our panel calculator if you need a custom size.

Step 2: Set Up the Stand (If Applicable)

If you've purchased one of our flower walls with stand, extend the telescopic poles to the desired height and width. The stand is adjustable and can be set to a full 8ft x 8ft display. Ensure the base is stable on a level surface before attaching any panels.

Step 3: Attach the Panels

Each panel connects to the next using the mesh backing. Work from the bottom row upwards, attaching panels left to right. The panels hook or clip together, creating a seamless display. For wall-mounted installations, use adhesive strips, pins or nails through the mesh backing.

Step 4: Adjust and Style

Once all panels are in place, step back and check the overall appearance. Gently adjust any flowers that may have moved during installation. Our silk flowers are designed to hold their shape, but a light fluff will ensure everything looks its best.

Step 5: Photograph and Enjoy

Flower walls are at their best in natural or warm artificial light. Position your backdrop near a window or use ring lights for the most flattering effect. Our customers regularly use their walls for wedding photos, salon content, product launches and children's bedroom decor.

Tips for Getting the Most From Your Flower Wall

  • Store unused panels flat or gently rolled to maintain their shape
  • Avoid direct sunlight for extended periods to preserve colour vibrancy
  • A light shake will help restore any panels that have been stored for a while
  • Our panels are designed to be reused and rearranged, so experiment with different colour combinations
